About the Bible

The Bible, an extraordinary collection of ancient writings, provides a treasury of stories, thoughts, and beliefs. Through the Bible, we discover a broad spectrum of man’s experience with God as it touches on issues of faith and doubt, happiness and sorrow, trial and torment, hope and joy. The Bible explores the relationship between God and humans, especially our place in the world. It reveals a God who intervenes and takes action.

Countless believers and secular scholars have long recognized the importance of the Bible. This one collection of sacred writings contains masterworks of world literature. No wonder that the complete Bible has been translated into 350 languages with some portions of it translated into as many as 2,100 languages.

For thousands of years people listened to the words and stories of the Bible in their homes, the church, around campfires, and anywhere else they could gather to hear the good news. In our modern age we live far from the oral tradition of our ancestors. We too often miss out on the actual sound of language, the tone, the rhythm and the pace of a reader’s voice — the very ingredients that make a text come alive.

Seeing this disconnect we at Voxbibila have created a convenient means by which you can receive the words of the Bible the way men, women and children have experienced them through the ages — through the spoken word.

The Word, spoken and heard, transports us to Christianity’s earliest days and to the time of ancient Israel when believers heard the Word aloud, even when they read it alone to themselves. Hearing the Word enables us to imagine the stories as the ancient hearers first encountered them.

Our archives contain more than 1,100 chapters of the Bible — more than 85 hours of recordings.

It is time to spread the spoken Word!

Voxbiblia is independent from any church or confession and has as its sole purpose making the Bible available through spoken word.
